Botanica Nurseries has partnered with Allwyn Entertainment for several years, so when the client invited the team to help create a healthy, biophilic workplace in their new headquarters, the goal was clear — to deliver something truly special.

The new office features over 250 plant displays, blending live and preserved plants to achieve a space that promotes calm, creativity, and wellbeing. From lush cabinet-top planters to preserved moss walls, every element was chosen to bring the natural world indoors while supporting the company’s sustainability and wellbeing goals.

A key feature of the project is the use of mixed planters and natural groupings rather than rigid rows, creating an organic, flowing feel throughout the office. The selection of natural-style planters, made from sustainable materials and designed to avoid plastic where possible, reinforces Allwyn’s commitment to environmental responsibility. At height, the preserved plants and moss bring texture, colour, and interest, creating a sense of depth and movement as staff move through the workspace.

To enhance comfort and privacy, cabinet-top troughs with mixed planting were strategically placed near seating areas, serving as both visual and acoustic barriers. This approach not only improves the look and feel of the office but also contributes to employee wellbeing, reducing stress and creating a more productive environment.

1. Moss Picture

Beyond aesthetics, Allwyn wanted planting that would engage employees and bring the principles of biophilic design to life. Botanica Nurseries helped achieve this through two interactive features — an indoor office farm and a propagation station. Repurposed LiveDividers were transformed into growing units where herbs and salad leaves are regularly harvested for staff. The propagation station encourages employees to take cuttings from office plants, nurture them on-site, and eventually take them home — extending the wellbeing benefits of greenery beyond the workplace.

2 Set of 3

The project was not without challenges. A delay in contract approval meant the installation team had just two weeks to deliver and install more than 160 floor-standing planters, 80 cabinet toppers, two LiveDividers, and a 4m x 1.5m moss artwork — all completed by a two-person team. Despite the tight schedule, the installation was completed on time and to exceptional quality standards.

Designing a cohesive look across such a diverse mix of over 30 plant species was another creative challenge. The displays needed to appear informal yet harmonious, using variety to reflect the organic diversity found in nature. Key species included Ficus, Dracaena, Monstera, Schefflera, Aglaonema, Sansevieria, and Zamioculcas, chosen for their form, texture, and ability to thrive indoors.

10 Level 11

The result is a workspace that embodies the best of modern biophilic design — sustainable, engaging, and restorative. By integrating real and preserved plants, natural materials, and opportunities for staff interaction, Botanica Nurseries and Allwyn have created an environment where nature and people thrive together.
